This week will focus on the ongoing theme with stories on the foundation of love, more specifically pertaining to two great songs with contrasting takes on the subject; Paradise Circus by Massive Attack and A Thousand Years by Sting. One seems to take a very hopeful stance on renewing their bond with another, expressing their immense passion, while the other takes a much more cynical disposition towards the ever-coveted feeling, likening it to a self-destructive force we’re bound to collide with.
As well as displaying the similarities and differences between the two, there will also be a critical look at each song’s lyrics to get a better understanding of these musical artists and their styles.
Until then, think of some of your favorite songs that might deal with the nature of love and comment.
